Nice Graphic: Visual Data on Teen Drug Use...I wonder how accurate it is...
As this graphic shows, the momentum among high school age students is shifting toward the accepted use of drugs and other illicit substances. Now, I believe that this will have economic implications not only because more students will suffer the loss of productivity in the economy as a result of increased drug use but also because decreased productivity and a reduced GDP will make the United States far more suseptable to negative foreign competition. With mounting budget constraints as a result of increased mandatory spending coupled with burgeoning economies in countries like China, India, and Brazil, the United States will have to buckle down to address the education problem or reliquish its economic power to countries who are committed to educational productivity.
