Interesting survey results from former college students as to what they might have done differently. Don't pass up at least a look at this chart

The first one is a tough one and very personal.   Think of the results of this survey as your "future self" traveling back in time to your "present self" and giving you some advice. Current and future college students should ponder this chart and consider it free advice.

  1. How can the results sum to > 100% ? (127%)

Regardless, coming from a 43 y.o. MBA who works in government, I can assure all readers this graph is TRUE. At least the top 4. Very, very true. Listen to Mr. Hayward, students!

  2. Sorry, Mr. Hayward, I should have verified with the source (NY Times, author Catherine Rampell)...and after doing so, it looks like her sample size of 444 passes statistical muster, but WOW how does the article let an error like that through? And it's throughout the article; percentages of each answer tally to 127%. Wow.

    1. Anon---thank you for the pointing you the sum of the percentages. I did not notice that, to be honest. I am not math guy (as my students will attest to!) but could it be the people in the sample might have chosen more than one answer (or ALL of them?!). Example---assume the outside scenario---If all of those surveyed said they wished they had chosen a different major AND they wished they had done more internships then the percentages would have been 100% for both categories. This is the only way I see the survey getting those percentages adding up to more than 100%.
