We know how much a gallon of gas costs. But how much do other things you buy cost by the gallon? Nice graphic!
Oh my goodness! I have never thought of this! It's a real punch in the face though. I guess the thing that makes gas such a big deal though is that we use it consistently and we buy more than one gallon at a time and it would take a long time to use a gallon of some of the other stuff. (such as nail polish). Solution though.... we just need to make a car that runs on Clorex Bleach and we'll be set!
We always complain about the appalling gas prices, but this really shows us that many things are much, much more expensive than gasoline. At the same time, we don't run cars on nail polish. If we did, then even our car (a relatively inelastic commodity) would become too expensive to use.
