Early Warning System for a Tsunami---American-Style
If youre on the beach when a tsunami hits it is obviously your time to go. So I think they should change the sign. They should have a person running at the wave with a surf board and the caption read. "Now's your chance. Go for it."
This is really funny because it's basically common sense. This sort of reminds me of the warnings in the islands of the Philippines. Although this may be strictly from my family's self experiences or exaggerations and I've actually done no research on it, they say that earthquakes are very common there and that their province is not technologically advanced so they do not have any warnings or sirens at all.
Even though most of us see the sign as common sense, a lot of people may not actually think of it if they are traumatized. What Pam said is interesting because the lack of technology forces the government to do things that we see as ridiculous, such as this sign. Whether everyone knows what to do or not, it is still the government's duty to take care of their citizens and instruct them.
I guess this is a good caution to know when your about to go for a swim but I don't think it will do much good when a 50ft wave is coming towards you at 50 mph, and I think they needed one of these in Japan
This just cracks me up! I wonder who designed this sign and what was going through their mind. Because I would be thinking that everyone in the beaches would panic and drown when they see a tsunami. Rather than having the time to run...
I think this is a waste of money. The beach might as well make a sigh that says "In case of sharks.... Run". I'm sure most people are more informed about a small fish, rather than a catastrophe.
