No serious budget cutting will take place unless entitlement programs are put on the table...No wait, entitlement programs ARE the table!

Add together Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and Net Interest and you see our problem.

  1. I believe the solution (cuts) to these entitlements are going to have to take place over at least fifty years. The issue some people have is they don't want to lose their hard-earned benefits they have paid into over the past 30 years. What if we cut benefits, say, if you were born 1990-1995, you get 20% less; 1995-2000, 30% less, 2000 on, no benefits when you retire. It doesn't fix the problem we have today, but it helps in the long term.

  2. This is funny because I was assigned a 'cartoon assignment' in government and I chose one similar to this with the same message. >> http://cagle.com/working/110217/keefe.jpg >> I don't think budget cuts would make a big deal unless we were to mess around with the social security, healthcare, or military spending. Which I dont see that happening, so is our nation doom? I hope to live the day when our economy is back on track, but for now I dont see that happening.
