To Work in College or Not to Work in College, THAT is the Question...


Nice article in NYTIMES on the opportunity cost of going to college and deciding to work or to not work...Any former students have any advice for my current Seniors??? Thanks!!!

  1. Personally I felt that once I got a job it forced me to look at my schedule and get my time manamagement skills in line. Before I had a job school was just school, but once I had other committments it forced me to get my act straight and take care of business. And lets face it, as a college student you will never have enough spending money...

  2. Get a job. I think it helps to keep students out of trouble! I agree that it should be educational, though. Reach out to companies in your field of study and see if there are paid internships available. This is very common for accounting majors...

  3. As the article states, getting a job clearly helps with the development of skills pertaining to life other than the educational aspect. I am a work study student and sure it's not a real job but I still get paid. The month before I recieved my work study assignment, I was actually bored. If anything the work study assignment encouraged me to work harder on my studies.
